Nick Denton studied philosophy, politics, and economics at University College, Oxford. He began his career as a journalist for a newspaper with a special emphasis on business and economics news. He is an internet entrepreneur and the founder of the online media company and blog network Gawker Media.

A series of controversies led to a lawsuit that caused Nick Denton to file for bankruptcy. He is currently married to Derrence Washington. The two tied the knot in May 2014 at the Hayden Planetarium in the American Museum of National History after dating for over a year.
