SIDNEY POITIER – $25 MILLION

Sidney Poitier receives credits for a lot of things. He is the first Afro-Bahamian actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1964. He is also the oldest living and earliest surviving to receive the said honor. The now-93-year old star has helped to break the barrier in the white-man era. He has changed the culture for his kind, and it may be the most significant success Poitier has achieved.

As he continued to dominate the business in the late ‘60s, the actor also resumed breaking ground with his three successful movies, To Sir, with Love, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, and In the Heat of the Night. He then became the top box-office star of the year. After this, he ventured into the world of directing, helming the 1980 film Stir Crazy with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. In addition, Poitier entered the diplomatic service and became the Bahamas ambassador to Japan from 1997 to 2007. Now that he’s retired, he may be enjoying the $25 million net worth he has.
